We can assist with the review of potential sites, developing capacity studies to inform decision making. We also have experience working with a range of clients to develop briefs for new or re-configured buildings, initiating processes of discussion with users and stakeholders to find ideas and unlock possibilities.
Working with your needs we can develop sketch proposals, exploring in conversation with you using drawings and models.
At an appropriate point we can engage in pre-application discussions with local planning authorities before compiling and submitting full planning applications.

We relish working with existing buildings, having recently completed the extension and refurbishment of two listed buildings. We work with heritage and conservation constraints to find answers to contemporary needs, gaining the confidence of conservation officers and local authorities. For examples - see our House of Priests and work at Down Street Mews.
We enjoy taking an initial idea for a building and carrying this through detailed design and construction to the final building. We can provide detailed design services compiling construction information, schedules an specifications. Using this information we can obtain building regulations approvals, support party wall negotiations and obtain tenders for construction work. We work as design team leaders in collaboration with engineers and consultants and use BIM-based CAD software.
We provide tendering and contract administration services to realise a project. We enjoy working with builders, subcontractors and crafts-people onsite.
Our work is informed by the research we undertake and several side projects and areas of interest. Often this is self-initiated but can be commissioned by clients too. We have written the uses of time in buildings, urban development, housing and the work of several contemporary architects. Find our more about our research here.
Our design processes use both digital and analogue methods of representation and exploration.

We can assist with bespoke research and consultancy services - we have worked with clients to analyse the way they use buildings, develop user briefs and create design guidance documents.
Andrew Carr collaborated with Public Practice to develop best practice guidance for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets High Density Living SPG. The guidance featured Phoenix Heights, an award winning development Andrew led as Project Architect whilst at Brady Mallalieu.
