tempo seek to work with you, to get you the building you want - one that fits you. We’ll listen, draw, talk and test ideas to make sure we find the right approach to your project. tempo like to work with people and processes, co-ordinating both to create places that work around your patterns of living and working.
In all projects tempo seek to make the most of natural light and sunshine, to give people inside a sense of what the weather is doing outside. This creates healthy indoor environments that nourish our circadian rhythms and are a pleasure to occupy. We can enjoy each season. We will think about a building at all times of the day and year, seeking to make the most of each season and condition: Being warm and snug on a cold winter evening, or enjoying a cool breeze on a hot summer day.
tempo think carefully about the life cycles of materials, how they weather and wear, how they will be maintained and how they engage with the climate crisis and the slow carbon cycles of 100-200 million years.

design with time in mind
All buildings exist with cycles and changes. tempo like to work with these and synchronise them with your own patterns of living and working. Together this tailors a building with your needs and makes sure it serves you for as long as you need it to.
tempo enjoy working with existing buildings, re-working them to suit new needs and conditions. We can also design new buildings and think about how they might last, change and weather, contributing to the evolution of their setting. Quick and slow: some structures might be temporary and others designed to last a long time.
Patterns of use and activity inform the way we design spaces, allowing you to use a space just how you want to, whilst priming them with the potential for other possibilities and connections. In the short term each space becomes more versatile and engaging - in the longer term your building is future proofed.
